Juliet Rotondo is a high school junior from Rye High School in Rye, New York. Her writing is recognized by the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards and featured in her school’s literary magazine and newspaper; she is on the editorial staff of her school’s literary magazine, newspaper, and Polyphony Lit. Yewon Han, a junior at Dulwich College Seoul, Korea, possesses a keen interest in surrealism and philosophical themes. She adeptly integrates her artistic expressions with a discerning focus on form, texture, and chromatic interplay, creating visually compelling compositions through her predilection for mixed media experimentation. Beyond her artistic pursuits, Yewon also immerses herself in competitive debate, where she delves into the intricate intersections of economics and politics. Inspired by the organic manifestations of the natural world and drawn to naturalistic artistic representations, Yewon finds inspiration in the works of renowned filmmakers Greta Gerwig and Sofia Coppola, exploring the captivating realm of cinematography. Building upon this inspiration, Yewon intends to broaden her artistic trajectory and delve into a broader spectrum of themes, fueled by her passion for artistic exploration and her desire to express her unique perspective.

Anonymous Dinner

Annabel Jung is a junior attending Cornerstone Collegiate Academy of Seoul in South Korea. She is a curious girl who is very interested in what happens around her, such as visual phenomena and social issues. She likes observing objects around her and expressing them, paying attention to details, and depicting them in high quality. She is cultivating her artistic talents by researching and experimenting with new ways of expression using visual contrast, reflection of light, and various textures. She also enjoys watching movies because the color palette of each movie is different and has unique characteristics, which often serves as an inspiration for her artwork.

Becoming Near You

Asher Lasky is a second-year sophomore majoring in visual arts at Interlochen Arts Academy. He is from Northern California and is a nationally exhibited artist. He has received numerous Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, the Jack Troy Merit Award, and an Artistic Merit Award from the National K-12 Juried Ceramic Exhibition.

Dongeun Choi is an English major junior attending Ewha Girls' Foreign Language High School in Korea. She has grown up in Sweden and the U.S. as well. Her art is inspired by international movies and animations. She is also interested in illustration and concept design. Illustrated art depicting movie scenes has always fascinated her. Growing up, she was exposed to various films, animated movies, and picture books, which greatly influenced her art. She enjoys experimenting with both digital and traditional drawing techniques. She is exploring different types of art, including oil painting, watercolor, and pen, as she searches for her own art style.

East Side of Sorrow

Madeline Leluc is a sophomore at Charleston County School of the Arts in North Charleston, SC, where she is a creative writing major. Madeline has won several Scholastic Art and Writing Awards for her photography and writing. She gets inspiration from her love of cinematography and film. In her free time, Madeline enjoys volunteering at the library, walking her dog, and riding horses.

Heat

Matthew Chwang is a junior at Taipei American School, where he showcases his artistic talent as a painter and illustrator. He draws inspiration from his imagination and cherished memories to create vivid and captivating imagery. His work was published in the 2023 issue of The Interlochen Review, and he also received two Silver Key Awards as well as two Honorable Mentions during the 2024 Scholastic Arts and Writing Awards. In the future, Matthew is committed to perfecting his drawing and painting skills and exploring new avenues for creative expression.

Molt

Maya Tzonev is a second year junior at Interlochen Arts Academy and is originally from Wooster, Ohio. Her work has been exhibited in the Traverse City area and she has received numerous recognitions from the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, including a 2023 American Visions nomination.

Shanghai Nostalgia

Annabelle Wei is a junior at The Thacher School, a boarding school in Ojai, California, and is originally from Shanghai, China. She integrates her passion in psychology, Go and volleyball into her artwork. Annabelle received an honorable mention award in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards for her “Down the Drain” photography work and a Golden Key award in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards for her “Eternity” printmaking.

Kensho Kaya is a high school 11th grader whose hometown is in Tokyo, Japan, studying at Shanghai American School. As the president of an architecture club in his school, Ken has earned major awards such as a Gold Key, a Silver Key and an honorable mention for the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards in 2024, as well as a third place winner in the Quill and Scroll arts competition in 2024. In the past years, Ken has also received numerous awards nationally in China, such as winning first place in competitions from the Chinese Academy of Arts. Ken often experiments his approach to art and he also emphasizes sustainability and design, being one of his mission statements which he strives towards with his club and activities in school.


Aidan J Hong is a sophomore at Seoul International School in Seongnam, Korea. His passion for arts is geared towards architecture and art history. He also develops ideation on journalism, environmental concerns, archeology, and more. Aidan plans to continue pursuing his art and business interests to grow his inventiveness.
